About This Book:

Pull the sliders to watch the animals wake up or go to sleep in this adorable, interactive bedtime board book with soft collage-inspired illustrations.

Children can pull the sliders to watch the animals wake up or go to sleep in this adorable, interactive bedtime board book. And since it’s nighttime, Fox needs to wake up and begin the nighttime prowl through the forest! Lion and Elephant, though, need to go to sleep now on the savanna. In the ocean, it’s time for Octopus to go to bed, and in the rain forest, Tiger needs to lie down. But most of all, it’s time for the young readers to hop into bed for a good night’s sleep! Each brightly colored spread features a slider for little hands to pull in order to change the picture.

fun nighttime board book

NIGHT NIGHT, LITTLE ONES is an interactive bedtime story. Each page spread features a different grouping of animals who are settling down to sleep with one animal that needs some help. When children pull the tabs on the side, they help those animals to fall asleep. The final page spread features young children who are settling down with one they can help before it tells the reader that it is time for them to go to sleep too.

What I loved: This is such a cute way to get children involved in bedtime. With the slides, they get to “help” the animals and a child go to sleep just like their friends. The first page includes fox who actually needs to wake up (since she is nocturnal), which adds an educational component around some animals sleeping during the day vs at night. Additionally, the book contains a few groupings of animals, such as those in the forest, savanna, and ocean, which introduces habitats in a gentle way. The text is simple and focuses around sleep, which is great for a bedtime story.

The slides are thick and sturdy, which will hold up to even rougher readers. The font is also bold and clear, making this easy to read aloud even at nighttime. Combined with the lovely illustrations that bring the animals to life, this is a great pick for bedtime.

Final verdict: A sweet and interactive board book, NIGHT NIGHT, LITTLE ONES is a charming bedtime book that encourages animals and children to get to sleep.
