This book has bright colorful illustrations and an exciting title plus cover inviting the reader to choose it. I like that the Spanish was blended throughout to feel authentic and we learned more about Mariachi. My heart ached and was angered that her teacher and grandfather denied Tuchi’s desire to play Mariachi based on gender. I like that she persevered and changed their minds but I wish that it was not a struggle just to enjoy things that make you happy and hurt no one. I love that her grandmother taught her and am sad that things did not change in time for the grandmother to also get to openly participate. What was satisfying was that in the back when giving further knowledge on the instruments there were many pictures of female mariachi players presented
