About the Book: Land of the Dragon

They had not even started to fight, yet I already could smell blood in the air…

I am a traitor, victim, fighter, survivor, sister, and daughter of a Nazi. I am Eleanor Kuhn. I will not be indoctrinated by Hitler. I fight for the truth my world has forgotten and ignored, but upon escaping the country. I stumbled into a whole new world, and I soon realized that war is everywhere you look.

With nothing but the clothes on my back and five siblings in tow, I wash up on the coast of a world I’d only glimpsed in books and the clouds of dreams: Land of the Dragon. But there’s something about this new world that rings with familiarity. Or perhaps someone . . .

~Author Chat~

YABC:  What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

I been writing Land of the Dragon since I was 12 years old. Growing up I had neighbors that were from Germany and where young during the time of World War II. From my visits with them they shared so many stories with me of what it was like living during that time. It fascinated me and I kept researching about World War II and interviewing older folks that had experienced the war. I also had a huge imagination and while playing outside when I felt the wind I would look up to the sky and just think, an invisible dragon flew past. So, a combination of those two things were the start of Land of the Dragon. I also use to have dreams about Land of the Dragon that I incorporated into the story.

YABC: Who is your favorite character in the book?

My favorite character in my book of Land of the Dragon is a character I was surprised that readers did not favor as much as Eleanor. My favor character is my main protagonist male Andrew. I have noticed a lot of readers really connected to Eleanor the most which surprised me because Andrew has so much to offer with his character.

YABC:  What came first, the concept, landscape, characters, or something else?

Concept and characters. Land of the Dragon is a story I developed in school with a school assignment but at the same time I dreamed the story. When I would sleep, I would have dreams about the story of Land of the Dragon.

YABC: If you could only write one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Oh, that is so hard, but fantasy. I have always been a fantasy girl, I love the Labyrinth, Last Unicorn, Never Ending Stories, Dark Crystal, etc.

YABC:   What can readers expect to find in your books?

Readers can find my books on Amazon, Ingram Spark, Kobo, Google Books, Chapters, or order them directly from me with an author signature.

YABC: If you were able to meet them, would you be friends with your main character?

I have unexpectedly met someone who is naturally identical to my main character Andrew. And I am married to him, hehehe. My husband is identical to my character Andrew and it’s just kind of funny that I guess I put the characteristics in Andrew that I needed in a partner. We actually named our first-born Andrew.

YABC:    What’s your least favorite word or expression and why?

Hehehe, said. I find it very boring, I tried to use more expressive words that describe the characters ton. However my editors advised to use said more, so that was change a lot throughout my books. I learned that sometimes simple descriptions are best.

YABC:   What’s up next for you?

Well, I am planning more children’s books of the Crazy Potatoes series, some young adult/ tween novellas, and of course Land of the Dragon 2.
