cute, interactive board book
BUSY BUILDERS: DINOS AT WORK is an engaging and interactive board book for dinosaur and construction vehicle enthusiasts. T. Rex needs help with his construction project, and he finds other dinosaurs who can do things like smash a wall with their tail like a wrecking ball or push aside some dirt like a bulldozer. Together, they are making something cool!
What I loved: This is a cute concept, especially the pull-outs that take the outline of a dinosaur and turn it into a construction-type vehicle. They are colorful and lots of fun to look at, which works well for toddlers. The rhyming text is great too – though part of what needs to be read is on the pull-out (so if a little one is moving it around, it can be tough to read). The font is otherwise very clear and easy to read – and it is very brief, which is great for the intended audience.
What left me wanting more: The pull-outs are a bit challenging to do and get stuck if the angle is at all off, which makes them tough for little readers who love to do it themselves. The story shows some kind of carnival but does not actually describe or say what they are building, which would just have been a nice touch (they are still working on it at the end of the book). That being said, little kids will just enjoy the story and transformations regardless.
Final verdict: BUSY BUILDERS: DINOS AT WORK is a fun and interactive board book that invites young readers to pull out tabs while checking out the colorful images and enjoying the rhyming text.
