Before reading this book as a pre-teen, I had heard a bit about it, the plot line. I knew that some of it was about the main character starting puberty, and that made me sort of nervous and avoid reading it, since puberty was such a taboo thing to talk or read about in my group of friends, and since I hadn't started it! But, eventually, I did get to opening the pages of that book and getting a bit caught in it, and well, I managed to read through the whole thing without flinching. It was quite an easy reader, I read it within a day or so. Definitely NOT book for boys, unless of course, they are interested in reading about female growth and maturity. NOT one of my favorite books, but it did catch my attention for a while. One thumb half way up!

The book Are You There God? It's Me Margret is about a young girl named Margret who just moved from her home in New York and is trying to understand what she can do to be more religious when her teacher assigns her a project to be worked on all year. Through the book, as Margret tries to understand the reasons for things that have happened or are happening in her life, she writes letters to God which express her feelings in an exteremely informal way. I enjoyed this book because of the lack of understanding in Margret.

Margaret's moved to a new place and has made new friends. Now she;s on a mission. She is going to find a religion for herself. Now her faily and friends want her to be "their" religion. From Catholicism to Judaism she's going to pick one. Except by the end, even her favorite Grandma;s hounding her to pick her religion. Margaret then feels troubled and overwheled and renounces god. When something unexpected happens....
I really didn't like tis book because it was a little boring and Margaret was really only focused on god and puberty which really wasn't interesting. I also found her hard to relate to.

This book perfectly captures the life of a girl growing up. I couldn't put it down and have read it twice. It made me compare my own life to Margaret's and it was so similar and realistic. It was funny and emotional and a fast read. You'll remember the characters forever because they are so true and funny. I recommend it for teen girls or older if they want a refreshing recap of life during puberty. :)

I love this book, because it shows Margaret becoming an adult. I think it helps girls understand or feel more confortble with growing up and not belonging.I don't know why it is among the list of most banned books.

I love this book! It was a great story about a normal 12 year old girl who is stuck between the worlds [that we all have been stuck in] of school, family, religion, and friends. This book was awesome and I could definatley relate to!!
