The facts for each player are presented in a somewhat stilted fashion, but the author has hit upon some interesting aspects of their lives and presented them in an accessible manner for the intended age group. The book also focuses on the hard work the players put into achieving their superstar status—something that parents, teachers, and coaches can access to motivate young fans.

There’s always the danger of missing the mark in these books and selecting a player to feature who doesn’t fulfill their potential, but BASEBALL SUPERSTARS 2016 is chock full of major league players who followed up their 2015 seasons with largely as good or better seasons in 2016.

The photos and stats make this book a must-have for young baseball fans.
