A beach, a mystery, and secrets that refuse to stay buried... Blue Beach had us hooked from page one!

Our teen book club loved diving into this gripping historical mystery. Set in 1929 Santa Monica, Blue Collins finds herself caught between friendship, family expectations, racism, and a murder investigation that could destroy everything her community has built. The story blends suspense, history, and heart in a way that kept us guessing until the very end.

What stood out most was how Karyn Parsons brought the history of Black-owned beaches and communities to life while creating characters we genuinely cared about. Blue is brave, determined, and relatable, and her friendship with Ben adds emotional depth to an already compelling mystery.

If you enjoy historical fiction with strong themes, important conversations, and plenty of twists, Blue Beach is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
