These range from well known historical figures like James Baldwin and Nelson Mandela to more modern men like Ahmir Thompson (Questlove) and Iddris Sandu. Most of the quotes are about embracing personal qualities like perseverance and speaking up, but many address the challenges that Black men face.

Each quote is accompanied by a short explanation of when it was said, along with a short description of the roles each man played, as well as additional context.
