Kids curious about sea life and animals will love this colorful, crustacean-filled guide to crabs and what makes the various species unique and resilient. Facts range from how crabs get their shells to lesser known facts, with a focus on their adaptability and survival across extreme climates. Crabs belong at the beach, in the deep sea, among mangroves, and even on land (and some crab eggs survived a trip to space!).

Fully illustrated pages and a large text font present information in a way that's accessible to beginning readers who are curious to learn but may be intimidated by visual-dictionary type books. The crabs are colorful, detailed, and pretty cute throughout, particularly in the mini-glossary of species toward the end. This book also includes a QR code to access free supplemental materials to learn even more about carcinology.
