CARRIE
Review by Tim Keenan
In the quiet town of Westover Maine everyone will know the name Carrie White.
In this book Stephen King tells about a misunderstood girl who discovers she has telekinetic powers. With her telekinetic powers she can make things move by just thinking about it. All of her life she was picked on by everyone, but with her newly acquired powers she will fight back.
Carrie lives in a little home in Westover with her religious mother. On top of the harassment at school, her mother is a controlling, abusive, woman who will throw Carrie in a closet for days if she sins.
She first discovers her powers in her bedroom. She starts to do exercises every night with brushes and her bed. She lifts them and slowly places them back down. She slowly gains strength and that will come in handy soon enough.
A popular girl named Sue Snell feels bad for picking on Carrie so she makes her boyfriend take Carrie to the senior prom. Her boyfriend is the very popular Tommy Ross. Carrie is skeptical at first but finally agrees to go.
Chris Hargensen, one of the girls who bullied Carrie, is outraged because she is not allowed to go to the prom. The principal of the school said that because she bullied Carrie she could not go. She is making her boyfriend get back at Carrie. He kills two pigs and puts the blood into buckets for a prank they are going to play on Carrie at the prom.
The night of the prom the town is buzzing. Chris sneaks in the gym with the buckets of blood. She suspends the buckets of pigs blood directly over the spot where the king and queen will stand. But they will rig the election so Carrie will win.
Carrie and Tommy win as expected. And its the happiest moment of Carries life. Suddenly with a loud bang Tommy falls to the floor and Carrie is completely covered in blood. The bucket of blood lands straight on Tommys head, killing him instantly.
The greatest moment of Carries life is ruined. She is filled with uncontrollable rage, and her new powers come out. You wont believe what happens next but to find out you must read the book!
I give this book five stars. It is the best book Ive ever read. It is mainly for adults but I read it at a young age and had no trouble. It was written with the most vivid details by Stephen King, (his first book ever published.) The ending is the best part of the book so read it!
