When I first heard that Lois Duncan had written a book on her life as a writer I had to have it. I've enjoyed her work for years and wanted to see how she started out. I was not surprised to find out she had been writing for years, but was surprised to know how early she got started submitting and getting published in magazines. Duncan was a winner in Seventeen magazine's writing contest when she was only 17 herself.

Duncan is ver honest in the book. She talks about her 1st marriage and how young and out of place she felt amongst the other army wives. She also talks about trying to be a writer during a time when being a wife and mother were the main options for women.

This is an honest autobiography that is a must read for every Duncan fan.
