Only when they find them all will they be able to save Deltora from the grip of the Shadow Lord. Lief must fight a terrible foe to find the first gem in the forests of silence.

This book has a creative plot and it is very suspenseful. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to read on.

this book shows off the talent of emily rodda at her finest. I found this book to contain a certain air of dark vs. good. The ending of the book though comes out as a bit of a twist!
the other books in this series follow in line with this one...great!
there, are, of course other series written by emily rodda yet this one is probably the best...for boys anyway...like me! though i would not expect every single girl to enjoy this fine piece of written art-work.
it is a must read for readers who like fabtasy yet do not like the big bulky fantasy.
