With the current phenomenon of vampires in our culture some might want to explore a more classic telling of vampires before they were beautiful and crushworthy. Dracula starts off well enough with interesting charachters being introduced. but about halfway through the book some of the charachters become melodtramtic and lets just say if sexism is definetely present in this book. I think you really have to be committed and love vampires if u want to finish this book because there is no "hot" vampire heres who will love you forever, just a classic vampire who seems very creepy. I personally thought the leadup to the ending was rather long and tedious and the ending itself made me turn back a page and go "WHAT?! just happned" and not in a good way.

I started this book after i watched the dracula movie on tv (the one with keanu reaves) and wondered what the book was like.  i was surprised at how close the movie and book were.  it starts off a little slow and the reading is a bit difficult because of some of the foreign names, but once you get started it gets really good, almost like an old time mystery, you know its dracula and he's a vampire but they still have to figure it out.  and reading til they do and try to defeat dracula makes for an interesting read, better than i thought it would be.
