Jess is head over heals for her boyfriend Fred, but she can't tell her mother about him because her mother is anti-male. Jess is looking forward to spending summer vacation with Fred, but then out of the blue her mother announces that they are going to take a long vacation ending with a visit to her father. While she would love to see her father, Jess is devastated by the separation from Fred.
This book was a fast and fun read. Jess' antics are amusing in an over-the-top kind of way and her interaction with her grandmother was touching. It had a couple of twists at the end that weren't very surprising. This would be a good beach book- doesn't require too much in the way of brain power.
