In the 4th edition of gossip girl, college is just around the corner. Some seniors are getting their early acceptance letters and some have to wait. But everyone is already in party mode.
Jenny meets a new girl Elise, and they bond over the body image problems they have. Dan and Vanessa finally have sex, but after that, they start to drift apart because both of them are turning famous. Dan's poem, Sluts, was printed in the New Yorker and Vanessa's film career is going great. In order to get another chance to get into Yale, Blair transforms her image to resemble Audrey Hepburn, her idol. Nate is still a drug addict, and one day he's busted by the cops and sent to rehab. Serena and Aaron go out and they are the hottest couple in NYC. The biggest event coming up is fashion week, and Serena is asked to model and Vanessa is asked for permission to use her film as a backdrop. Everyone starts to think that Chuck is gay.
Blair goes for her interview and she falls in love with Owen Wells, who is twice as old as her. Nate meets this girl named Georgia, a stoner, in rehab. He is attracted to her, though she's not his normal type of girl. He saves her from killing herself. Jenny and Elise experiment with kissing each other. Jenny feels very uncomfortable and guilty. Dan is asked to go to a poetry reading and he meets another peot, Mystery Craze. He hooks up with her, even though he already has a girlfriend. Throughout the fashion show, Serena forgets about Aaron. They break up, and Serena is really upset. Blair realizes that the man she was making out with was the father of someone she knew. She decided to go to rehab with Nate and she admitted that she was a bulimic. And Jenny meets Leo, the boy she has a crush on. Vanessa gives up a great filmmaking opportunity. At the end, the only person who ends up happy is Jenny.
This book was great, but it left so many more cliffhangers, hopefully hinting to a 5th book. Who gets into college early? Who is the child of Owen Wells? Do Nate and Blair get back together? And could gossip girl actually be a guy? Read the book to find the answers to all these questions and more!
If you love the gossip girl books, pick this one up. It surely won't be a disappointment. I didn't like the Dan and Vanessa parts, but their story gets more interesting and complicated in this book. I just don't like the parts with gossip girl. Gossip Girl seems so conceited. Other than that, it's a great, quick read that will keep you reading until you finish.
