How Will We Navigate to the Stars?

HOW WILL WE NAVIGATE TO THE STARS is part of the Big Questions Answered series. This book focuses on the science behind navigation, specifically asking about navigating through space.

This book talks a lot about the history of navigation. From sailors to pilots and eventually astronauts, it provides a very solid foundational base of what people used to navigate through history. This additional information helped set up a base point for astral navigation, but I did wish there was a bit more information about how spaceships and astronauts navigate through space.

Verónika Cháves Morales has an art style that works really well with this style of picture book. Simple illustrations that don’t steal away from the focus of the book, but additional background details that add whimsy and fun to the experience. The colors are also matched so well for the scenes they’re depicting, varying in brightness and vividity as the scene demands.

This book is suggested for readers aged 5 to 9 and I find that it fits quite nicely into that category. Some of the words may be a little higher than that level, but the book helpfully provides a glossary at the back to bridge that possible gap.

HOW WILL WE NAVIGATE TO THE STARS is an excellent addition to the Big Questions Answered series. Focusing heavily on navigation in both its past and future forms, this book is a great addition for kids interested in space travel or travel in general.
