This board book includes six excerpts from famous classical music along with colorful images that correspond to the music. The music can be played on each page by lightly pressing a silver dot- a feat easily accomplished by even young toddlers. Six full-spread pages are featured, with one spread per song. Approximately half the size of the whole book is taken by the sound mechanism, which also features an on-off switch and a battery case for ease of switching out batteries if needed.

What I loved: Toddlers can easily figure out how to turn on and off the music on each page with light touches, and they will enjoy listening to the music. The images are lovely and correspond to the music in an understandable way for a child (e.g. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Spring features flowers and bugs in lovely and colorful cartoonish images).

What left me wanting more: This is really a musical toy with a small book element. Toddlers will still enjoy it as a musical toy, but it would have been nice to have more of a book element with a complement of music. The volume of the music also cannot be controlled and is rather soft in terms of volume (though this is certainly better than too loud).

Final thoughts: Overall, toddlers will enjoy exploring this book on their own and playing the lovely music. The six songs selected are some of the most famous and the sound comes through well. With an on-off switch and vivid images, this is fun way to introduce classical music to your little one.
