In this last installment of Mr. d'Lacey's The Last Dragon Chronicles, we get adventure, philosophy, and a grand finale that brings together each of the worlds and heroes we've followed throughout this series. I don't want to give away spoilers, so I won't go into great detail on what I think makes this book a near perfect finale for fans of the series. Suffice it to say that the worlds and heroes we've followed get their moments. And a hero we've yet to learn much about gets his day. There's courage, adventure, and an unflinching look at how much our choices cost us. Not every question is answered, and I think some readers might be unsettled by that, but overall, Mr. D'Lacey delivers the kind of intricate, well-plotted fantasy adventure with deep philosophical musings we've come to expect from him. Way to cap off a wild, glorious ride, Mr. d'Lacey.

The Fire Ascending is the last book in the Last Dragon Chronicles. This book starts off with a new character called Agawain. He is a simple farmer yet has a massive destiny. He is going about his daily business when a dragon settles on a nearby mountain to shed its life source, his fire tear. He sets off to reach this creature but a dark evil is in the forest. A man corrupted with Ix and his unicorn that has also been corrupted roam the forest, along with Skogkatts. He makes it to the mountain only to be then attacked. In the midst of this battle, the dragon sheds its tear, but some of it enters his eye setting off a major chain of events.

This book is confusing in a good way. It keeps you from solving its mysteries. It has vivd detail that keeps you trapped in it net. I loved this conclusion to this amazing chronicles. If you enjoyed the last six books and want to solve the mystery, then I definitely recommend it.
