Magickeepers Series: The Eternal Hourglass (Book 1)
Editor reviews
Some kids might think its cool to live in a hotel in Las
Vegas with a magician father, surrounded by the excitement of casinos and shows. For Nick Rostov, though, the hotel he lives
in is run down and his dad is regarded as one of the worst magicians in
Vegas. Every time he makes a new friend,
they turn out to be a tourist and are gone at the end of the week. However, Nicks 13th birthday is
momentous. His grandfather takes him to a
mysterious shop in the desert, tells Nick that he has the power to see the
past, present and future, and gives Nick an old key. As if that werent enough, Nick is spirited
away by Damien, the most famous magician in Vegas. When he awakes the next day, he finds that hes
been reunited with the family he never knew he had a clan of Russian
magicians hiding in plain sight in Las Vegas.
Now Nick must spend his summer honing his magical power and
determining what the terrifying creatures known as the Shadowkeepers want from
him. Is it related to his newfound
power, or the magical key he received on his birthday? Nick isnt sure who he can trust, but he
knows he has to find the answer before the Shadowkeepers get to him first.
The first installment in the Magickeepers series is a wild
ride through Vegas, the world of magic, and a little bit of Russian
history. Incorporating famous figures
from the past such as Rasputin and Houdini, this book is an exciting
introduction to Nicks magical family and their quest to restore the magical
elements that have been lost to them. Nick
is engaging and easy for guys to relate to, and his cousin Isabella provides a
nice touch of girl power to the mix. I look forward to finding out what comes next for Nick, Isabella, and his newfound
family.
