These books never let me down. You really feel in tune with and a part of the characters: Lucy, Nesta, and Izzie. Nesta is the main character. She always seems confident, beautiful, and exotic. She meets a new, rich, good looking, older boy named Simon. Nesta gives it her all to try to fit in with this new crowd, including trying to live up to snobby Cressida's standards, Cressida likes Simon as well and disapproves of Nesta. (Really she is jealous!)
Nesta finds out that her family is at risk of becoming financially unstable because of her parents' jobs. It's hard for her to hide this from Simon. She starts to feel uncomfortable about her background and race because she's half black and half white. Then, she learns (through many mistakes) that there is more to life than looks, money, and designer brands.
This book is fun and perfect for teen girls dealing with real life: boys, parents, school, friendship. It teaches that just being yourself and true to others is the best way to deal with all situations. You'll also fall in love with the characters and the bond that they share among themselves at all times, good or bad. This new series is ultimately the best.
