Murder seems to happen wherever Montgomery Bonbon goes, and so the mysterious detective suits up in coat and mustache for an island based case in an exciting sequel. The story wastes no time getting down to business, with the investigation ready to begin just chapters in.
Bonbon continues to be resourceful, lively, and inquisitive, supported by the reliable Grandpa Banks. There's a whole host of new places and faces, and some returning characters as well, including Bonnie's friend Dana (who is the second person to know Bonbon's identity). In true Montgomery Bonbon fashion, there's several illustrations of characters or clues in each chapter, French and foreign exclamations to make Bonbon sound mysterious, and sound words written in evocative fonts for special effect.
This series brings back fond memories of Spy Kids and Jigsaw Jones, and it's sure to be a treasure for new mystery lovers as the adventures of Montgomery Bonbon continue to unfold.
Note: This is the second Montgomery Bonbon book, but new readers won't have much trouble picking this up on its own.
