Naomi and Ely have been best friends since they were kids. Naomi is in love with Ely, but he is gay so her dreams of getting married to him will never be fulfilled. This friction comes to a head when Ely gets together with Naomi's boyfriend, Bruce. Naomi wasn't that interested in Bruce to begin with, but the fact that Ely steal him from her puts her over the edge.

Parts of this book were really good and parts were really annoying. I really liked Ely's character and I liked his interaction with any other character, especially Bruce. I found Naomi a bit grating and annoying. Some of the supporting cast were interesting, particularly Bruce the First, who lives in the same building as Ely and Naomi. The other supporting cast I found a little annoying (Gabriel the doorman) or unnecessary (the two Robins). Also, this won't be an issue for most people, but there are major spoilers for Buffy the Vampire Slayer in one of Gabriel's chapters and I'm only just finishing season three!

So, basically, this book was very uneven for me; some parts were great, but some were skippable. I recommend reading Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (by the same authors) instead if you haven't already.
