Number the Stars starts off during Passover (a Jewish Holiday).  The main character doesn't understand why her grandfather act so weird.  (why can't they get over the holocaust).  When she opens the door she goes back in time and .... You will have to read it to find out.  When she returns she has a new insight to what her grandfather went through and why he acts the way he does.

Ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen is living in Copenhagen during the time of World War II. The Johansens are Germans who are very good friends with the Rosens. Ellen Rosen is Annemarie's best friend and also a Jew. She soon finds herself involved in sneaking the Rosens out of Copenhagen when the German soldiers are coming after all the Jews and she is forced to find out what bravery really is.
This is a touching novel that is educational as well as it is entertaining. It reminds you that there were some people who escaped the wrath of the Germans during the war and there are always good people willing to help. It's powerful and moving. A great book that all school libraries should have.

I thought that this book was really good. It gave some information, and it was reaslly cool how Ellen escaped to Sweeden. My favorite charicher was uncle Henric because he was a farmer.I also really liked when the two soldiers stopped the children on the steet coner and asked them questions.

This is a very interested book about World War 2. It is a book about the German resistance against Hitler. This book is interested because it's about two children named Annemarie and Ellen. It talks about how Annemarie and her family tries to help Ellen stay away from getting captured and executed. I dont want to give the book away so im not going to go any further okay? Good Luck on reading the book! :)

This book was about Annemarie Johasen finding the strength and courage to save her best friend Ellen. When I read through it, it was very exciting and it showed me what brave is about.
It really scared me that Nazis were able to kill Jews whenever they wanted to, but Annemarie and Ellen sold it out bravely and that made me happy and also proud.

This book is very good in the way that it shows you the how bad the holocaust. I think this book could be better in a way that it could have been longer and show more fighting and gore.

This book was about a girl named Annemarie and all the courage and bravery she had! I could never be as brave as her. I feel bad for the Jews in this story because they were treated really bad. I am glad I was not alive in that time because I would be so scared and frightend. I think that all of the German soldiers wre out of wack to kill inisent people like Lise. I think Elen had a lot of courage because she new she was in danger but did not let it show that she was scared. I was suprised how Lise died and sad how she died too. When Peter got killed I felt really bad because he was part of the family. I really want to know when or will Ellen will come back to Denmark. This book needs a sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
