Who doesn't love a spunky kid detective and a quest both cute and spooky?

From the start, Marietta leaps off the page. She's determined and doesn't take no for an answer, and has a knack for running off while an adult or not so friendly monster is in the middle of a speech. Though the journey is tough, and her spirits droop the longer it takes to find her father, she's quick to rally and push forward with determination.

Every panel is a visual delight, from the spooky bird-like train conductor with glowing eyes to the friendly ghost dog to the contrasting neons of the landscape. I've got a soft spot for the ghost train and the shadowy inn-ghosts - which are somehow scary yet also just too cute. Also, the gadgets and gizmos, like Marietta's truth-seeing magnifying glass blend fantasy and scifi elements in a cool way.

This first volume compiles all prior episodes of Oddity Woods published on Webtoon, and the adventure is clearly far from over. Introduce this new series to fans of mysteries, monsters in the woods, and the eerie charm of Over the Garden Wall.
