Kate is a liar.

For one, she's running for Quahog Princess when she can't even stand quahogs.

And she's cheating on her 'perfect' boyfriend.

The biggest one of all? She refuses to reveal the truth about what really happened the day that someone spray painted "TOMMY SULLIVAN IS A FREAK" on the wall of her junior high.

However, despite all these lies, Katie's life is going fine...that is until Tommy Sullivan himself comes back to town.

His arrival is a catalyst.

Tommy manages to decipher all of Katie's secrets. And Katie knows that all he wants is his revenge.

Too bad all she wants to do is kiss him.

Meg Cabot crates another decent read in this book, however Katie's antics fall a bit flat and could have been more interesting.

Pick it up if you have nothing else more pressing to read.

The reason I love Cabot so much is because every year, she comes out with so many books. Just in the past two years, she's been constantly writing and publishing. And it's not even that the books are awful. They're GREAT!

Including this one of course. It flew by so quickly, and mainly because of the wit and humor. I've always loved to laugh through a book, and this one as well as many other Cabot novels serves that purpose.

Kate Ellison also seemed like a real character, full of flaws and what not, but completely real and likable underneath the lies. You couldn't help but be drawn to the story, and the ending definitely didn't disappoint :)

Again, a great and must read.

Katie Ellison is an accomplished liar. She tells people she enjoys eating quahogs when she actually cant stand them. Shes cheating on her boyfriend of four years, Quahog football player Seth, with Eric, the drama hottie. Katie is so used to telling lies to let people hear what she thinks they want to hear that its almost like shes forgotten who she is.

Then a part of her unpleasant past reappears. Tommy Sullivan, once a skinny freak who was run out of town for doing something absolutely unforgivable by the townfolk, is back. Only this time, hes 100% hot. And Katie has a bad addiction to kissing guys, even though she technically already has two boyfriends.

With Tommy, however, it feels like things are different. Its the way they have conversations that make her think, unlike her conversations with Seth, which are mostly about food and football. Its the way he remembers all the little quirks about her, back from in middle school when the two had been friends. And its also the way she cant stop thinking about him.

But at the bottom line, its time for Katie to stop lying to herself. She has worked so hard to lie her way from social paraihdom to the girlfriend of the most well-liked guy in school and best friend to the most popular girl. Is she willing to give it all up now for the only guy whos ever made her heart beat fast?

I didnt enjoy this as much as Meg Cabots previous books. Nothing really happens, and the characters are flat. Katie is a typical Cabot protagonist who likes to get off topic and who fails to show any true conflict and resolution, while Tommy is a stereotypical bad boy hottie to the point where I want to gag. However, if you want a light read, then by all means, go ahead and read this one.
