Well-written, exiting book for children of all ages incorporating humour and suspence in an un-put-downable read. Just the beginning of a fantastic series by one of the best fantasy writers for children.

I just loved this book. I have read the entire Song of the Lioness and Immortals War Quartets, and the books that are out yet in the series about the children from winding circle, and I was delighted to find another magicle Quartet set in Tortall. This first book is a well-writen fantasy that grips right from the start - poignant, clever and even a little funny. There are no books like Tamora Pierces' books. All I could do was read and read in the hope that it will never end. I won't say anything about Harry Potter, because it is so annoying the way authors are always comparing like they're hoping this kid is going to read the reveiw bit and say, "Oh, if it's like Harry Potter I'll read it" because some kids will like reading and some kids won't.
I hope Tamora keeps producing more and more books, and I'll be straight to the 'P' section of every library and book store, and I'll hope to see everyone else with taste there too! (Although of course by some miracle I'll be the one to get the book if it's a library - as taortallians would say, thank Mithros for giving it to me, so mote it be!)
Love and Kisses,
Lou, AKA Juliet Haydon-Knowell, AKA Julie.

P.S Hi everyone in 7 - oops, I mean 8h and from my primary school Kilmorie, plus loads love and c.u soon JEMS (Jane Eva Millie Sarah) and Daisy from Chris's year six class who are coming to Sydenham Girls in september. And huge hugs for Isobella Antoine Farrow, Anna-Sarah Gomez, and Sophie Tindall, my all time best friends. (sorry Daisy u r my bestest pal too but I already said you.)
P.P.S There was loads of point in that since none of them are ever going to come on this site probably.
