Stick Dog lives under a bridge and is quite happy there. He hangs out with his dog friends, Mutt, Poo-poo and Karen. When the group smells hamburgers cooking in the park, they make plans to steal them, and have many humorous attempts to get them from the family. These include some spats with squirrels, thinking Karen is missing and planning a memorial to her, and stealing potato chips out of a trash can. Will Stick Dog and his friends ever get the hamburgers?
Good Points
When I first read this book in 2012, I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have. It's one of those series where each book gets better and better, and I now utterly adore it.

The best part of the writing is that it appeals to adults, tweens, and children alike. It's a great choice for an older sibling to read aloud to a younger one, because they will laugh at different parts. Stick Dog has become more and more clever, while his friends still think he is not very bright. There's also a lot of slapstick for younger readers, and the dogs will go to any lengths to get food.

I love the variety of adventures that Stick Dog and his friends have, and there is only one more book in the series. Stick Dog Takes Out Sushi comes out in February 2021.
