Sweetgrass is an Indian Girl wishing to marry a man who at the time was a worrier. Her parents are the ones to pick whom she marries and they think that Eagle-sun (the man Sweetgrass wants to marry) is to young. Also Sweetgrass' father thinks that Sweetgrass is too imature although she is almost considered too old to marry.

Sweetgrass is my favorite character because I think thats it is hard for her to live a life were you are not able to chose who to marry. In my opinion this book was a little on the boring side only because I think this book is not of my age group.
I would recommend this book to others who enjoy stories about the Indian struggles and their life.
