Dial L for Loser (Date of original publication is August 2006)
Written by Lisi Harrison ( - present)

Central Characters- Massie Block is a wealthy, kind of selfish, spoiled, and very superficial 7th grader. That thinks nobody should ever get more attention then she does. Claire Lyons is very sweet and kind, she doesnt care much for fashion and defiantly thinks its more important of what is inside then out side (She and Massie are total opposites).

Other Characters- Kristen Gregory is a very poor girl but is still one of the clique girls she is easily upset but can insult you very quickly if she feels intimidated. Alicia Rivera she is just like Massie thats why she is Massies right hand girl. Dylan Marvil is the wealthy daughter of a famous TV host, but she is always very self conscious because she thinks she is fat. Abby Boyd the two faced teen star. Conner Foley selfish and superficial movie star that everyone loves. Briarwood boys are the guys that all the clique girls like. The parents very kind and helpful not much description about them.

Setting- Westchester the wealthy suburb of New York City. Los Angeles, California where the sun is always bright and nobodies can become famous within days.

Narrator- Its the author-third person narrator that knows everything that each of the girls is feeling not only on the outside but on the inside as well.

Events In summary-
1)The clique girls meet a famous Hollywood director, Rupert Mann, and he asks all of them except Dylan (because her rumor spreading caused the original actress, Hadley Durk, to quit).
2)After the girls (Kristen cant go so its only Alicia, Massie, and Claire) addition for the same role, Claire gets the part. Alicia and Massie would have to leave if it werent for Dylans mom who let them work for her show, The Daily Grind, as the behind-the-scenes reporters for the movie Dial L for Loser(in which Claire got a part).
3)After Claire gets backstabbed by Massie AND Abby she cries a lot and after the movie is finished she goes back to Westchester.
4)All of her friends through a surprise party and even Cam (her boyfriend) with whom she had fight with.

Authors attitude- Excitement of the girls about being movie stars, and about the drama the teen stars face.

Irony- The whole book is ironic in its point of view. Like how selfish and self centered these girls are (not Claire).Rate me I think I am a 10!

Symbols-The range rover is a symbol of Massies life its big, comfortable, and expensive and its not cozy or something you appreciate. Another symbol is Massies charm bracelet which symbolizes her friends she would cry if she lost it, but would get a new one quickly.

Evaluation/Theme Statement- Dial L for Loser is a book is an exciting tale of bedrail, dishonesty, and friendship. Even though the ending seems good its a cliff hanger.
