The Hammer is a novel that should resonate with its target "young adult" audience and older readers alike. Don't be fooled by the cover: this is a well-crafted and intriguing story that quickly draws the reader into Corvan's above ground and subterranean worlds. There is a cinematic quality to the author's descriptions and narrative flow; I couldn't help but think this novel deserves its own cinematic score. The story arc allows for a feeling of completion, yet also leaves room for a continuation of Corvan's adventures. Recommended.

I loved this book. It was unique from alot of the books that are being published. It grabbed my attention and held it from beginning to end. I would stay up to finish the chapter and then an hour later realize that I had read way more that I had planned on. I would totally recommend it to anyone who loves a good adventure.

What a book! Get a copy of this right away and you'll be so glad you did. You will hurt your wrist from turning the pages so fast. Vance is a good writer who knows what it takes to keep your interest. This is a hard book to put down, so start early in the morning.
