The Elder Gods are much loved, having cared for the people in their domains and protected them from the Vlagh, but it has been a long time since such monsters have threatened their borders. Now that the Vlagh moves again, they need help. The four Elder Gods find it in the forms o four human children, the Dreamers, whom they raise from birth, and in Longbow and his band of elite archers.

I picked up the first book in this series by chance. It was not exactly what I would call good, but it was decent enough that when I found I needed something to read I decided to pick up the next book in the series. The Treasured One is much better than The Elder Gods, the book that came before it.

You don't need to read The Elder Gods to understand this book, you just need to have a general idea of what happens, so I would recommend reading the inside flap.
