This book is comprised of chapters that read like short stories all featuring the wacky fourth grade class at Aesop Elementary School. Some stories will be instantly recognizable to most people (there are reworkings of The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The Tortoise and the Hare). Each chapter has a moral at the end.
Some of these stories fall short of their goal, but most of them are at least amusing. This book is for the person that loves puns and corny jokes. For example, the school librarian's name is Paige Turner. Fleming has squeezed in as many jokes as possible into each short story. Some jokes will go over the heads of younger readers, but this won't interfere with enjoyment of the book. I would give this to fans of the Wayside School books.
