Sasha Fox has been different all her life, although her family pretends she's normal. But when World War I breaks out, Sasha's mysterious powers give her a sickening vision: her brothers, fighting somewhere in France, are going to die. Desperate to change this terrible fate, Sasha sets off to locate and save one of them, but will the story play out the way she dreamed it?

Marcus Sedgwick's always top quality prose perfectly echoes the feeling of unease and alienation that must surround a character like Sasha who sees things she shouldn't be able to see. The intriguing story and its countdown effect will keep readers turning pages and the ending will challenge but will not disappoint. Highly recommended.
