The Haunted Mask (Goosebumps Graphic Novel #1)

Carly Beth is tired of getting bullied and picked on by her peers and brother. This Halloween, she decides the perfect way to get back at them is to scare them so good they'll leave her alone. On a mission, she stumbles upon a shop with the perfect mask. It's green and horrific with its fangs. The shop owner warns her not to use it, but finally sells it to her after her persistence. In the mask, she feels invincible, but what happens when things become a little too real?

THE HAUNTED MASK GRAPHIC NOVEL is an incredible, yet chilling interpretation of the original chapter book. I love the illustrations and how creepy the mask looks with its yellow eyes. The colors are bold with darker schemes to keep the suspenseful atmosphere. The story follows the classic version, but condensed because we get a visual without the necessity for descriptions. This may make it more intriguing to middler graders. Goosebumps was my childhood so I adore seeing it reaching the next generations still.


Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children aged 8 and older who love horror, FNAF, suspense, friendship, and graphic novels. This would make an excellent Christmas gift for those horror lovers.
