Sisters Riley and Alice and their friend Paul have been friends forever.
Riley and Alice have spent all the summers they can remember on Fire Island.

This summer is no different. Paul, Alice and Riley (all adults now) come back to the island. Meanwhile Paul wonders if he should sell his family's house on the island and Riley is a beach lifeguard.



Yet, there are some differences. Paul and Alice act on their attraction they feel for each other and don't tell Riley for fear of hurting her. But Riley has her own problems, problems that could ruin Paul and Alice and basically her entire world.

I thought that it was pretty well written however there were many times where the characters did not act their age and it showed that Brashares roots come from YA.

Despite some of its flaws, it's a good book and I'd recommend it.
