I Love this book! I love how it deals with real, serious isssues of the day and makes it funny at the same time.

There's a white boy named Gabriel. He lives in Georgia in 1976, the year of the bicentineal. His friend Frita, is the only black girl in the class. Frita thinks Gabe is too scarred of things. He's scarred of 5th grade 5th graders and Frita's big brother. but Frita never shows Gabe the list of what SHE"s afraid of and whan Gabe finds out that's the turning part of the story.
I read this book in 5th grade and Ive loved it ever since.

This book was boring at first but then got exciting near the middle. It shows a great moral that you can conqour your fears. The way they conquor their fears in this book is by making a list of what they were afraid of, then they would try to overcome that fear. I think the way they tried to overcome their fears is a really good idea. Anybody could do that!!
