When I got A Map of The Known World, I never realized that the cover was actually many things that made up a heart. In fact, I never realized it until I actually went to read it which was like&a week ago. So imagine my surprise when I realized that the heart on the cover wasnt a regular heart, it was many little red objects that came together to form a heart. And then when I found out, I was absolutely fascinated with the cover. Its like one of those optical illusions where you see one thing from a far away angle and then see another when youre right up close to it.

Anyway, what I loved about A Map of The Known World is probably the writing style. I loved the way Lisa writes about stuff the descriptive language, the flowing style, etc. Though at times it seemed like there were too many descriptive words, it ended up coming together as a whole.

The plot was also very attractive. Since her brothers accident, Cora has been depressed. Her family is still mourning for her brothers death that had occurred almost a year ago. But with the help of Damien, Cora manages to find things about her brother that allows her to finally let him go. I loved how it was through art that made allowed Cora to let Nate, her brother, go. To me, art always seemed like this abstract idea, something anyone can do but only a few succeeds. So when I found that A Map of The Known World is about art, I had to get a copy.

The characters, Cora and Damien were strongly represented. At first, Cora seemed like depressed kid which she was but towards the end of the book, you could tell that she had grown both emotionally and physically. Damien, however, has no confidence in himself. He believed that he was weak and that everyone had already labeled him as a troubled child. He lacked the courage to change it and it wasnt until Cora persuaded to him to take a little step that you could see that he was finally moving out of his little comfort space.

I loved how you could see the characters develop into something more and with Lisas beautiful writing style, it was described in a breathtaking manner. Overall, A Map of The Known World was amazing and I highly encourage it. It seems like a light read but its filled with emotions and character.
