When Princess Carina, the pampered daughter of the king and queen of Vineland, and Julia Johnson, a poor scholarship student, decide to switch places for a day, things soon get wildly out of hand, in a delightfully modern twist on a classic tale that gives new meaning to happily ever after.

I thought This book is the classic Cinderella-meets-Pauper type of story. When I gave it a try, I was expecting just another cliché
plot; boys meets girls and everyone lives happily ever after. But boy I
was wrong! The moment I read about Julia and her troubles, it
immediately piqued my interest. How would someone as practical as Julia
agree to something so impetuous? Why would a pretentious princess like
Carina want to 'hook up' with someone she barely knew?
There
were all these questions I had at the beginning but Brian made it all
work out in the end. It constantly threw completely unexpected
scenarios at me. It made the plot more original and more comical. I
enjoyed reading it all the way to the end.
The Bottom Line: Read it. It'll be worth it. A- :-)

This book is really good!!! I wish i could do something like that. I also want to have to money Carina has!!! Woah!!! A princess and a normal school girl switching places is not on the daily basis routine. This book has such detail and it sucks you right into the book. Your not a girl if you don't read this book

This wonderful book was written by Kate Brian. And this story is about two girls who look a like, but are two totally different people. One is named Princess Carina, and she is the princess of Vineland. When she meets a girl who's name is Julia, they switch places and have a bunch of adventures like the wrong girl getting shipped to the wrong place. If you read this book you will find more than adventures, but love. I really suggest you to read this lifetouching novel.

I totally wasn't expecting to actually like this book, because I thought it was just a throwaway dime-a-dozen novel. Then I read it, and found it to be completely enjoyable -- not filled with lifelong meaning, but still worthy of the hour and a half it took me to read it.
I really liked the way the story came together, with the alternating viewpoints and the hint of the grandmother in the background, which teaches the Princess a lot about herself.
I wasn't as fond of the Julia character. She doesn't really have a friend with her, just her mother, and I felt like there could have been more to what she learned than "being a princess isn't as easy as it seems."
But all in all, I feel like my hour and a half was well-spent.

This book is truly one that you'll end up reading again and again, it really never gets old. In a nutshell, it is a classic trading places storyline with added pop culture twists and tons of modern spice. Julia is the sullen but strong pauper while Carina (beautiful name!) is the naiive, caged bird princess who wants the life she sees American teens have from the movies she longingly watches. The storyline may seem slightly cliche'd, but with the wonderful, thoughtful writing, you won't be displeased.

When I picked this book up from the library I had no idea I was going to be reading it non-stop! I read this book for hours at a time. I Loved the whole plot. My favorite part was at the end when Markus showed up to Julia's door and said he would be going to the same school she was. I really didn't want the book to end! I really hope there could be a continuation of the book. This book is my favorite books of ALL TIME!!!!!!!

Ok, sure I've read the classic tale but this puts a whole new twist to it. I can read this book again and again and it never gets old. As the two main characters journey their switched life, we learn about them, their lives, and a little bit about ourselves. We learn to appreciate what we have for many other people have far worse restrictions. Ready to start your awesome journey?

The book was very much like The Princess Diaries meets the Parent Trap, like the book says on the cover. That's all it is! Nothing more. It was too much like the movies to be considered a classic. It's meant to be forgotten and has no real message. The romances are unbelievable and the characters were cliche. The ending is way too cheesy and predictable. Julia is very mean and cruel. I didn't like her! She didn't deserve Markus--Carina did! Princess Carina seemed more down the earth than the pauper Julia, who's constant whining and complaing drove me nuts.
I wouldn't recommend this at all. Your time's better spent watching the Princess Diaries movie than reading this! Disposable and boring. The writing was weird and lacked true depth. Watch the movie instead. It's sooo much better.

A GREAT book!
Though the story line isnt really very original, the presentation is fabulous!
I would have to say this is one of the est and most fun books I have ever read.
It's about these two girls, a Princess and a Pauper who look alike and switch places. You can guess what comes next...
A must read!
