Young Mary Lennox gets sent to live in her uncles mansion after her parents die. There, she unravels secrets and she learns more about herself. She finally knows what it's like to live and actually be a child.
Read this classic to see how Mary changes. Also to see the secrets that had to be figured out.

I thought the book was okay but totally not the best book I have ever read.  It was boring in some parts and exciting in other.  Like the first time she saw the garden. Yes that was kind of exciting because it was the first time she ever noticed it but the author added the tinniest bit too many details.  I would not recommend this book to anyone.  Maybe little kids but probably not likely.

After her parents die of cholera, 10-year-old Mary Lennox is sent to live with her uncle, Lord Archibald Craven, in his manor house in Yorkshire. Her new home is a depressing, lonely place, shadowed by the death of its beloved mistress, Mary's aunt. While playing outside one day, Mary finds a door to a mysterious, overgrown garden that has been locked for ten years. As she spends more time in her Secret Garden, with the caring guidance of a local boy named Dickon, the lonely garden and the lonely child tend each other as they both learn to thrive.

The Secret Garden is a beautiful, sweet tale of finding beauty, rediscovering joy, and learning how to love.

This book is a classic. The main character's name is Mary Lennox. Through out the whole book, the reader gets that chance to see Mary grow from a selfish, needy child, to a mature young adult. Mark was used to getting everything that she had ever wanted, however when a disease spreads through out where she lives, and everyone dies, she was forced to move to a relative whom she knowns nothing about. Here she has to basically take care of herself. She does have a maid to help her, but her maid makes it clear that she is not her mother.

I love this book. I first read it in fourth grade, and hated it. I then read it in fifth grade and liked it a bit better. I read it, once again, in sixth grade and then fell in love with it. The reader goes from hating Mary, to seeing her as an actual person. They get to see her transform into this nice person. It is a really good book.

This book is one of those books you often remember for a long time. I read this book in 5th grade and now almost 4 years later I reread it and still enjoyed it.

It's a sweet story about an unlikeable chid who grows after finding a garden that is prohibited. Along the way she helps a young boy named Colin who has given up on his life.

This is a really great book. It is well written, realistic and easy to read. When I read it, I was facinated by the way it revealed new things all the time, keeping my interest till the very end. I wanted to be there with Mary and Colin when they stepped into the secret garden. Some parts of the book are really touching, others suspenceful - The Secret Garden would definitely make your imagination work!
