Laine Hunt and Nikki Olivetti couldnt be more different. The only things they have in common are that they are both new to Wellington and roommates. On one hand, Laine is a Wellington legacy. Shes beautiful but shy, and shes also a field hockey star. People expect great things from her, as she does from herself, but shes also afraid of failure. Nikki is attending Wellington because her parents wanted to save her from the bad influence of her friends back on Long Island. It doesnt seem that she belongs at Wellington. Shes loud and unapologetic.

Both girls are finding it hard to survive in their new environment. And whats worse is the tradition of bets on who wont make it until second semester. The girls struggle to make new friends and find out where they belong in the school. Laine immediately fits in with the field hockey crowd, and Nikki befriends shy Parker. And even though Laine always acts cold and distant to Nikki, Nikki still tries to befriend her too.

The ending of this story was totally unexpected. My favorite character had to be Nikki, because she was just so lovable, even though some people would call her some rather nasty names. Laine did nothing to earn my sympathy on the other hand. I thought that this book was very similar to the Gossip Girl and It Girl series from Cecily von Zeigesar, but I liked the story anyway. This is not a series I would rush out to buy, unlike the Private series, but I recommend it nonetheless.
