What I Loved:

Ms. Showalter's follow up to last year's ALICE IN ZOMBIELAND is a smashing success. As with the first book, THROUGH THE ZOMBIE GLASS is action-packed, fast-paced, and the romance sizzles. This time, though, Ali is facing an inner demon that threatens both her survival and the survival of everyone she loves, and Cole is being a hard-headed idiot when it comes to matters of the heart, so the stakes were raised for the characters we've grown to know and love. Just like the first book, the sequel is compulsively readable.

Once more, the characters shine. The entire cast of characters each feel fully realized with distinct voices and agendas, while also still sounding like the teenagers that they are. I enjoyed the new additions to the cast, and was pleasantly surprised at the character growth some of the original characters displayed. Ali's own growth is phenomenal, and readers will love seeing the smart, outspoken, loyal heroine come fully into her own under great duress.

What Left Me Wanting More:

The conspiracy theories from book one seem to multiply in this book, and while I love a good conspiracy, there were a few times when I felt a bit overwhelmed or lost by all the many players. Readers may also want to smack Cole in the head with a shoe for the first half of the book as his alpha male tendencies do him no favors in his relationship with Ali. Rest assured, however, that he does redeem himself by the end and proves that even seriously hard-headed alpha males can learn their lessons.

Final Verdict:

Action, heartbreak, swoony times and plenty of twists--this book has it all. Impossible to put down.

This was better than the first installment. But sometimes Cole still bothered me a little. He broke up with her but was still all over her. He just rubs me the wrong way. He wouldn't listen to Ali about the visions at all.

I still love Kat, I'd take her as a best friend any day. She's funny and just brings in a breath of fresh air. My favorite character.

There is a pattern in these novels, they always battle the Hazmats at the end. I'm betting in the final book they end them permanently. Which I wouldn't mind, those jerks need to be put out of business.
I love how Justin came back into the slayer fold. I really like him. I'm also so glad his sister turned out to be alive.

I did think the whole Z.A. thing could've been cleared up so easily before the ending of the book. Seriously? That was a bit ridiculous.

Overall, I would rate this a 4.2 It's really entertaining. I had a hard time even putting it down. So much happened in this book, even a small twist I didn't see coming.

The cover... like where did they dig up that girl? Her face is so square and ugly. I love the cover from the first novel, the third isn't too bad. This though... God just no. I wish I had something to cover it up with.
