Tyrell's lived a hard life. His dad was busted while working at his illegal job and is now in jail. So now Tyrell and what remains of his family live in a shelter.

His mother is incapable of looking after Tyrell and his brother. So Tyrell's left to look after all of them and he has a plan (a risky plan) to do it.

Along the way, we watch the family dynamics and Tyrell's relationships with others including his girlfriend, Novisha and his friend, Jasmine.


This book is a fast read that will appeal to reluctant readers, especially boys. It was touching and showed another side of life (a less privileged one)in a down-to-earth manner.
