I thought I was picking up a tween book when I grabbed Gregory Maguire's Wicked, however, as I read through, it became very clear this was an ADULT book, I would never lend to a teenager or younger! A great read for adults, not appropriate for younger teens though.

I tried to read this book 3 different times and it is so wonderful but actully reading this was so impossible. it is slow moving and turns you brain into mush but please try to read it it is so good a total alternative to the fairytales on the movies.

this book started out really good but once I got half way through it the story started to drag. I felt like the world the author was creating was too confusing and there wasn't enough information given for me to follow what was happening. Also not enough was happening to keep the plot moving forward it felt like it was slow paced and boring that I had to force myself through the book. I did not enjoy this story as much as most people did.

This book is amazing!!!! It is definately for mature readers only, though. Gregory Maguire creates a vivid new version of Oz, that is similar to and different from the Oz we all grew up with. Maguire creates a very complex world where characters are so realistically drawn that you can almost forget that they are green or talking animals. The plot is complex and vivid, one that is impossible to escape from once you have begun. This is an unbelieveably amazing book, and should be read by all who are old enough to deal with the mature content.

A twist on the wizard of oz. Wonderfully written. Captivating, imaginative. A book that will remain forever in your heart, and on your shelf. It's been nearly two years since I have read the book but it still remains vivid in my mind. I recommend it to anyone looking for adventure and wonder twisted in with an old favorite.
