The Alphabet Keeper keeps all the letters caged in the dark. But one day they escape while she’s cleaning their cage–and then there is no stopping them! The clever letters are on the loose, rearranging themselves at every turn. With a few quick moves, the Alphabet Keeper’s hat becomes a cat. A bus turns into a bush. A rock changes into a rocket. And the flyaway alphabet is on its way to a final farewell!

That cranky old alphabet keeper is on the run, trying to catch the alphabet letters who are suddenly and happily free. She thinks she can nab them when they land in the park--but the p turns upside down, and "park" turns into "bark." They're far from done with their shenanigans; with the b turning backward, "bark" becomes "dark." And off they fly.
I love this original and creative book (and the small children I read it to agree), which is hilarious, teaches wordplay, and has the perfect illustrations (the Alphabet Keeper makes me laugh every time I see her).
