NUMBERS is a picture book from the eyelike series published by Play Bac, based on the theory that nature is an excellent teacher. The photographs and colors in this book are amazing. Its a visual pleasure to look through. Kids will like the nearly tangible textures as they peruse close up views of nature.
The concept of simple math equations explained with illustrations of bugs, animals, and fruit is well used in this series and will be an easy sell to small children. Some pages rhyme and some dont, which could be frustrating for kids who like rhythm. However, visual spatial learners will appreciate the lateral thinking created by the text, as its not the normal pattern used in similar picture books. Also, readers are given several photographic examples on each page and are free to choose which objects to count and review.
The publisher credits the input of teachers, parents, and children for the eyelike series. I like the feedback they came up with, and its packaged nicely in a gorgeous book.
