The Best Mariachi in the World tells the tale of Gustavo, a young boy from a family of mariachi musicians. Gustavo is not allowed to touch their instruments because he's too young, so he feels left out...until he finds a way of his own to make music.
This book integrates Spanish words with primarily English text and includes an English/Spanish vocabulary list at the end.
The story itself is simplistic. Young readers will have no trouble navigating the words alone. The illustrations are simply gorgeous, with a blend of warm and cool colors splashing across each page. Each image tells such a strong story, the words often feel unnecessary.
I look forward to more books from Raven Tree Press.
