100 Things to Know Before You Grow Up is yet another reason why I, as well as the children I work with, will always continue to read National Geographic. Not only was it educational, funny, and filled with tons of new information for kids (and maybe adults) to take in- but it was a book for every type of child.

The book was filled with bits of random knowledge, advice for future problems or questions a child may have, and fun activities. One thing I appreciated most about this book is the various "chapters" dedicated to providing knowledge of different cultures and life styles, and learning to accept these. During these times, I find it especially important to educate children on acceptance and kindness towards those who may look, act, or live differently than they do. In 100 Things, it was clear that they wanted to emphasize the importance of open-mindedness and respect.

Though each piece of advice is only two pages long, they manage to squeeze in lots of information and because it's a 100 "things" it's a perfect long read for car rides or to read bit by bit! Every kid will find something they love in this book and something new in it, as well.

Enjoy!
