A super-cute adventure through 200 adorable facts, in an irresistible pocket-sized book.
Follow an ingenious trail of 200 facts about all things cute, cozy, and sweet. You’ll meet the pygmy hippo called Moo Dheng whose ears wiggle when she sleeps and encounter the world’s tiniest teddy bear. You’ll learn that elephants dance in the rain and babies hiccup inside the womb. And you’ll even jet off into space to discover a comet shaped like a rubber duck and a dwarf planet with a huge, heart-shaped ice field on its surface. Every fact in the book is connected to the next in funny and delightful ways. But there isn’t just one trail through these pages: sometimes your path branches and you can choose to jump to a totally different (but still connected) part of the book. Where will your curiosity take you?

Follow a stream-of-consciousness cute overload discussion of all things cute and get caught up in the progression from palm sized bunnies to bonzai trees to singing lemurs! This nicely small 5” x 7” book is packed with adorable photographs of fuzzy animals that are often augmented with cute illustrations, The facts are tangentially related, so we transition from Japanese cats who are stationmasters in their own tiny hats to the world’s largest model railway and from restaurants with special dog menus to hamsters with their cheeks stuffed full of food.
Good Points
There isn’t a lot of information about each topic, but this would be an excellent springboard for research. I had to look up Tiny Ted, the world’s smallest teddy bear, who is only 9 centimeters tall! This would make the book a lot of fun for an older sibling (who might have access to a cell phone or tablet) to share with a younger one.

My own children always liked books like this to have on hand for car trips, since it’s easy to read out loud to others, and sparks a lot of conversations!

Cute Factopia is a great book to keep on hand for disappointing, rainy summer days along with titles like Boyer’s So Cute! Puppies, Beer and Lin’s Brain Candy: 500 Sweet Facts to Satisfy Your Curiosity, National Geographic Kids’s Weird But True, or Towler and Smith’s Secret FACTopia.

CUTE FACTOPIA is a delightful collection of adorable facts, perfect for kids who love bite-sized information. The book is written with a trail of facts that readers follow across each page spread and onto the next page. Each fact comes with an illustration or photograph related to it, and every page in the book is in full color!

What I loved: This is a great collection of facts about all sorts of topics, great for kids who love to know it all and hand out bite-sized pieces of information. The facts cover a large breadth of topics from penguins, to how Snickers got their names, and more. The selected facts are lots of fun with plenty of new things to learn (even for adults!). The full color pages and illustrations/photographs keep readers hooked.

As there is relatively little text on each page, this is perfect for young middle grade readers who love learning but want a break from more dense books. There are plenty of cool facts that they will kick out of and the pages turn pretty quickly (some spreads have four or five facts, while others have only one). The images are all well-selected, and it's a gripping read!

Final verdict: CUTE FACTOPIA is a delightful collection of fun facts that are perfect for early middle grade readers with lots of color, cool illustrations/images, and plenty of new things to learn!
