Startup Squad is a book that should be in every older Elementary school classroom. This book walks through all the steps of becoming an entrepreneur, from brainstorming to marketing to budgeting to evaluating your success or failure. I also like that it addresses the possibility of failure and how that is common, leading to the concept of grit when trying again or trying something else.
Using a realistic but made-up example of a dog biscuit business the authors do an awesome job applying their ideas to this business making it easy to follow along. Downloadable templates are included to accompany this book making it ideal for the classroom and teacher to engage students in this concept.
There are real-life success stories from tweens and teens throughout helping the target audience see the possibility. I like the continued point of planning on how you will save, spend, and donate profits earned as part of a balanced budget. The writing style was engaging and enthusiastic making you want to get a piece of paper and follow along with their suggestions on how to start your own business (even as an adult!) This book is the lesson plan already written with easy-to-follow instructions and examples for any parent or teacher to use. So why wait to get started reading today!
