Our Camping Trip takes all the steps of a family camping trip and breaks down the science behind the activity. The concepts are simplified but have a higher-level vocabulary that bridges the reading gap between kids and Middle-Grade audiences. What is presented in small paragraphs are big concepts that could be explored in other books for more depth per concept. For this reason, I think this book works better as a review of concepts and to see how they apply to real-life scenarios. Many science lessons are broken down by topic, so what is neat about this book is how it brings it all together into a relatable activity to visualize how much science is involved in everyday experiences. In execution, there is a lot of information in a relatively small space, so the text feels small. The illustrations demonstrate the science well. Overall, I like that this book brings large concepts into relatable activities, sparking curiosity to learn more.
